[CAREER SUCCESS] Why It's Never Too Late to Set Big Career Goals

Hi Audie!
Welcome to this month's edition of the Career Success newsletter! As always, our goal is to provide you with insights, strategies and inspiration to help you navigate your career, job search or career transition with confidence and intention.
In this issue, we're shining a spotlight on the topic of age and self-doubt that often creeps in.
If you find yourself saying you're "too old" or you're "too late" when it comes to setting new career goals, advancing in your career, switching careers and/or considering entrepreneurship, stop worrying about your age. PERIOD.
Problem solvers and valuable contributors don't have an age limit.
Your age is actually an asset.
I mean, look at me! I re-engineered my successful corporate sales/sales leadership career in my late 50s and became an ICF-certified executive coach. I launched my business in 2015 and am still looking for ways to reinvent my company, my business and ME while continuing to provide exceptional guidance, support, results AND VALUE for my clients.
I am more invigorated, fulfilled and content in my work than ever before (and I was very happy in my previous career).
And, I personally have witnessed hundreds of corporate leaders and executives experience a new outlook on work and feel empowered as a result of working with me.
So, as you read this month's article, think about your work/career. Are you truly happy with what you're doing and the company you're working for? If not, don't let age stop you from choosing something that you're really passionate about, inspired by or interested in.
The best years are yet to come!
Why It's Never Too Late to Set Big Career Goals
One of the most common concerns I hear from corporate professionals in their late-forties and beyond who are considering making a job/career change (or actively seeking their next move) is their age. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that age is a liability when, in reality, it can be one of your greatest assets.
As Mel Robbins, the renowned author, podcaster and motivational speaker, emphasizes, your age is a testament to your experience and maturity. If you’re someone who consistently delivers value, solves problems, and can be trusted, then your age adds to your credibility. We need to shift away from the narrative that age limits our potential.
Embrace Your Age as an Asset 💪
First and foremost, it's important to stop discounting your age. Instead, recognize it as a strength.
Age comes with experience, and experience is invaluable. The wisdom and insights you’ve gained over the years equip you to navigate challenges and seize opportunities more effectively than ever before.
Set Big Career Goals Without Limits ✨
When it comes to setting big career goals, don’t let age be a barrier. Robbins suggests finding inspiration in others, regardless of their age.
Look at people who are achieving great things—regardless of whether they’re younger or older—and use their stories as motivation to pursue your own ambitions.
Leverage the Power of Technology and Learning 🧠
Technology is a powerful enabler, making it easier than ever to acquire new skills and launch new ventures (either full time or as a side gig).
You can learn from others by following their journeys online or taking a masterclass in how they achieved their goals or hiring an executive coach to broaden your horizons and uplevel your skills.
Whether it’s re-engineering your career, launching a new product line, starting a business, or mastering new skills, the resources are out there—age is no longer a limiting factor.
Believe in You and Your Potential 🤩
What I've learned and observed over the years, the real obstacle isn’t your age; it’s the story you’re telling yourself.
If you believe you’re too old to start something new, that belief will hold you back.
But if you’re willing to put in the work, stay focused, and draw inspiration, guidance and support from an executive coach or those around you, there’s nothing stopping you from achieving your goals.
So, whether you’re 40, 50, 60, or beyond, remember that it’s never too late to dream big when it comes to your career.
Your age is a powerful asset—embrace it, and let it fuel your journey toward success.
If you're ready to transform your career or job search strategy and land the role you desire (or launch your own service-based business), consider reaching out for personalized coaching. Together, we can create a focused plan that leads to your success!
Rather than spinning your wheels and being frustrated with where you're at, you'll be well on your way to a more rewarding, successful, and less stressful, career.
"There's no such thing as aging, but maturing and knowledge. It's beautiful, I call that beauty." ~ Celine Dion
